House Rules and Safety
1. General Conduct
Respect and Courtesy: All participants must treat each other with respect and courtesy at all times. Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
Consent and Boundaries: Always seek consent before physical contact or engaging in potentially sensitive roleplay scenarios. Respect others' personal boundaries.
Language: Use appropriate language. Hate speech, excessive profanity, or any form of OOC verbal abuse is prohibited.
In-Character (IC) Verbal Abuse: IC verbal abuse is allowed only with adherence to the stoplight system and consideration of others wellbeing. Ensure all participants are comfortable and use the system to gauge and respect boundaries. Preferred is a check-in BEFOREHAND.
Photography Consent: Sharing of photography or recording videos of other participants is strictly prohibited without their explicit consent.
2. Safety
Physical Safety: No real weapons are allowed. All props must be checked and approved by staff. Combat interactions should be simulated safely with no intentional harm.
Emergency Protocols: Familiarize yourself with the location's emergency exits and protocols. Report any injuries or safety concerns to event staff immediately.
Health: Notify staff of any applicable medical conditions they should know about. If you feel unwell, inform a staff member.
Support Persons: Multiple confidential support persons ("vertrouwenspersonen") will be available at the event for anyone who needs assistance or wishes to discuss concerns in a safe and private environment. These support persons will be announced during the pre-event briefing and again at the event.
Safety ‘Ok’ System: We use the ‘OK’ system to ensure everyone's comfort and safety during interactions.
You ask ‘Ok?’ with the general known hand sign, the other participant answers:Thumbs up: Indicates that they are comfortable and everything is okay, keep going!
side-to-side rotation of an open, flat hand: Indicates that they are approaching the limit. The interaction should be toned down or altered.
Thumbs down: Indicates that they need the interaction to stop immediately. Respect this signal without question.
NERF and dart blaster Safety Rules
1. Blaster Specifications
Safety Check: All blasters will be inspected at the start of the event to ensure they are deemed safe by our staff. While we do not measure FPS with a speed counter, blasters that clearly exceed 130 FPS will be identified and not permitted.
Ammunition: Most types of darts and balls are allowed. If you have any doubts about the compatibility of your ammunition, please contact us before the event.
2. Blaster Appearance
Painting: Blasters should be painted to fit the in-game setting, even if it's just a basic coat.
Safety Cap: An orange cap on the front of the blaster is allowed if desired, but not mandatory.
3. Safety and Usage
Close Quarters: Use special care in close-quarters engagements.
Safety Goggles/Glasses: Safety goggles or glasses are optional. We are not responsible for any injuries sustained if you choose not to wear them.
4. Additional Guidelines
Personal Responsibility: Participants are responsible for ensuring their blasters comply with these safety rules. Non-compliant blasters may be confiscated for the duration of the event.
Respect Boundaries: Always respect the physical boundaries and comfort levels of other participants, especially during combat scenarios.
3. Gameplay Mechanics
Character Guidelines: All players should create characters that fit within the established setting and tone of the event. Characters must be approved by event staff prior to the start.
Roleplaying Etiquette: Stay in character as much as possible. Out-of-character (OOC) discussions should be minimised and done discreetly.
Conflict Resolution: In-game conflicts should be resolved through roleplay. If an out-of-game issue arises, seek a vertrouwenspersoon’s assistance immediately.
Use the ‘OK’ system during intense roleplay scenarios to ensure all participants are comfortable.
4. Environment and Props
Property Respect: Respect the event venue and its property. Do not damage or remove any items that do not belong to you.
Cleanliness: Keep the area clean. Dispose of trash in designated bins. We request you help clean up after the event and leave your sleeping quarters clean upon leaving.
